A word about our language

We understand that you are interested in our writing. Thank you for your interest.

This is how "Greetings Earthlings" looks in our language.

You will see that we do not have an alphabetic language - it is a hieroglyphic language. We understand that one of the ancient cultures on your planet used this kind of language.  As most of our communication is telepathic, we create mind-patterns. When we wish to communicate with others we use symbols based on those patterns to communicate our ideas. Telepathy is easier!

Our symbols for Greetings shows some of the things that this word means to us:

for example: eyes opening wide - shouting for joy - feeling as if the Sun is shining - being in the middle of lots of peope who are pleased to see us - opening out from being inside yourself to welcome others -  minds merging around an idea with a glow of understanding around them - someone meeting you and saying just the right thing that goes straight to the heart of things - quivering with delight - counting off the days until you can get together again - all sorts of things!
We will let you decide which symbol means which - and leave you to see if you can work out the ones we haven't explained!

We are surprised that all those things can be contained in 9 of your Earth letters!

We are even more surprised to see how the Universal Translator writes "Earthlings"!

We thought we had kept this writing very short - but yours is even shorter! We use many different symbols for "Earthlings". Even the human creatures are so varied we cannot understand how one word includes you all! We chose just a few of the hieroglyphics we would use among ourselves for creatures who live on the Earth.

It was even harder for us to explain what we wanted you to do. We tried to keep it simple - but your language is a very quick language and does not cope with the many mind patterns which our hieroglyphics communicate.

We hope that this helps you to understand something of our language. Telepathy and mind patterns are not easy to communicate in written form.
